Quote of the Day: 07.25.17
Today's quote comes from The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. It's a recent book that tells the story of a girl, Starr, and how she witnessed a police officer shoot her friend in cold blood. Thomas was inspired by the 2009 shooting of Oscar Grant and originally started writing this as a short story for her senior year project in college.
It's sweet and truthful and funny and references High School Musical and the Jonas Brothers and it's such an important story to read given America's current political climate. Every single person should have to read this book.
I don't have much to add today. I think I'm going to attempt to be an adult and get my oil changed which sounds like it's not fun. Maybe I'll see another cheap movie. The Big Sick is finally playing near me. Or maybe I'll watch Wonder Woman again. It's been a while since I've seen my girl Gal Gadot on the big screen.
Speaking of, my mother would like this quote to be included on the blog:
I may not need to moisturize, but I still have feelings.
She and my father have also called me numerous times over the past few days to tell me to watch Keeping Up with the Jonses. It has a 19% on Rotten Tomatoes, but they insist it's at least a mediocre time. I've watched worse movies with worse stamps of approval, so what's it gonna hurt?
