Burn Before Reading: A Carly Allen Story

Quote of the Day: 07.27.17

Can you believe I have been around on this mess of a blog for four months? Four. Months. Like what are we even doing here? Both on this blog and in the grander scheme of life and this ridiculous planet Earth. What a weird time.

Today's quote comes from Amy Poehler's book Yes Please. Lemme tell you, I love this book. It's one of the few books I've cried to on a plane. One of the few and the proud. It was the chapter she wrote about her sons that made me cry. It's also the most maternal I've ever felt.

Since this is a four month celebration, I'm gonna make a couple fun lists of things. Top fours, if you will.

Top Four Movies I've Seen This Year

  1. Wonder Woman
  2. Get Out
  3. Power Rangers
  4. Girls Trip
  5. Catfight (I'm including this because I saw it at TIFF last year, but it didn't come out until this year. One list in and I'm already ruining it.)
  6. Okja (I'm also including this because even though it didn't come out in theatres, it still came out in 2017. It also made me consider becoming a vegetarian for like a good two hours which is more than Food, Inc. ever did.)

Top Four Songs I'm Listening to Right Now

  1. Born to Hand Jive - Cast of Grease (What is wrong with me?!)
  2. Like a Prayer - Madonna
  3. Supercut - Lorde
  4. Ready for You - HAIM

Top Four TV Shows I'm Using to Avoid My Actual Adult Obligations

  1. The Bold Type
  2. DC's Legends of Tomorrow (This gif has changed my life for the better.)
  3. House Hunters
  4. Downward Dog

Top Four Places I Would Visit if Y'all Made Me a Bestseller

  1. Paris, France
  2. Railroad tour across Canada
  3. London, England
  4. Tokyo Disneyland

Top Four Things I Would Buy if I Was Rich and Not on a Budget

  1. A custom made neon sign with a floral background that says, "80s Music Will Save Your Soul"
  2. This $3,000,000 apartment/storefront in Queen West in Toronto
  3. This vintage Bruce Springsteen shirt
  4. A platinum ticket to ACL this year so I can see Ryan Adams in peace
