Burn Before Reading: A Carly Allen Story

Quote of the Day: 08.10.17

So, this quote's from Eat, Pray, Love. I know extraordinarily little about Eat, Pray, Love except for what I've gleaned from one of my favorite books of all time, You Deserve a Drink by Mamrie Hart.

Mamrie Hart is one of those new fangled YouTube stars. She's my personal favorite and if I could have dinner with two people, alive or dead, I'd pick Mary Shelley and Mamrie Hart. It would be the greatest dinner party the world has ever seen.

So Mamrie is known for mixing drinks. She used to be a bartender in NYC and starting making drinks for people in pop culture who she thought most deserved a drink for her YouTube channel. She films herself making drink recipes she creates herself and has a built in drinking games that consists of drinking every time she makes a terrible pun. Y'all, she is incredible and the drinks she makes are absurdly delicious.

Anyway, I bring her up because in her book, she talks about the time she went to Bali. There's like a doctor of some kind that the lady went to in the Eat, Pray, Love book who got pretty popular when the book/movie came out and Mamrie went while she was in Bali. I just spent like five minutes trying to find my copy of the book so that I could get the facts right, but I can't find it. I'm hoping it's already packed somewhere because I would be devastated if I lost that book.

So, while she's in Bali, she can't seem to poop. Mamrie says that her body just cannot poop unless she's on American soil. I'm not going to tell you how this tumultuous story ends, but I will say that the doctor from Eat, Pray, Love and white water rafting are both involved. Buy her book on Amazon and, while you're at it, check out this fun, young adult novel that critics my sister once said was "well written, but [she] didn't like it."
